Marie Omba Djunga
DRC Coordinator
Marie Omba Djunga is the Démocratric Republic of Congo liaison for Crescent Consultants, an international strategic relations firm headquartered in Washington, D.C., that specializes in developing and implementing international media and communication strategies, forging relationships between leaders in developing nations and U.S. policy makers, and teaming investors with opportunities in the developing world. Educated in the Démocratric Republic of Congo (DRC), Belgium, and Italy, and fluent in French, Italian, English, and Lingala, Marie is a public relations and event management specialist. Marie began her career in fashion design and event management in Europe, working in fashion houses in Milan, Bern, and Brussels, from 1991 to 1995. Upon returning in 1995 to the DRC, where she was born and lived until 1972, Marie opened Negropolis, her own design studio and boutique in Kinshasa, the capital of the DRC. She specifically chose “negro,” which means black in Spanish, to emphasize its positive meaning and cast out the negative connotations it bears, and “polis,” which means city in Greek, marrying her ethnic roots and urban European education. Marie simultaneously started MOOD a public relations and event management firm. For the past nearly 15 years, Marie has been assisting national and international clients seeking to work and working in various sectors in the DRC and Southern Africa. Marie has managed the Kora–All Africa Music Awards in South Africa and has managed and organized annual editions of the Mode et Spectacle Contre le SIDA/Fashion Against Aids benefit in the DRC. Marie is currently the DRC liaison for a Crescent Consultants implemented image campaign for the Office of President Joseph Kabila and the Lake Tanganyika Floating Health Clinic (LTFHC). Marie also specializes in governmental and business relations and has organized visits to and throughout the DRC for high–level delegations, including for the LTFHC. Marie lives in Kinshasa, DRC
